Three simple steps

Resize your image to 1000x1000 pixels

  1. Add your original image

Select a JPG, PNG or WebP from your device, or drop it into the tool. Work from the sharpest file you have, because enlarging a small image cannot recreate the detail it never had. Processing stays in your browser.

  2. Choose the square composition

Crop fills all 1000 × 1000 pixels by trimming the edges, with a draggable focus to protect your subject. Fit entire image keeps the whole picture and pads the remaining space with a background color.

  3. Download and check the file

Save a JPG or PNG that is exactly 1000 pixels wide and 1000 pixels high. Open the file properties afterward and confirm both dimensions, especially if the destination rejects wrong sizes.

Know the size

What is a 1000x1000 image?

A 1000x1000 image is a square with 1,000 pixels on each side: a 1:1 aspect ratio and exactly 1,000,000 pixels, or 1 megapixel. It sits between small avatar squares and large print-oriented squares, which makes it a common choice for profile images, product photos and web graphics that need a mid-sized square.

The page exports exactly this size and nothing else, so the download matches the label. Free width and height entry is deliberately out of scope; if you need another square, the image size converter lists every size this site exports.

Crop or fit: two ways to reach the square

Crop to fill keeps the image edge-to-edge. It trims the longer side of a rectangular photo and keeps the original proportions, so nothing stretches. Use the focus control to decide which part survives, and keep text away from the edges before you export.

Fit entire image keeps every pixel of your picture and adds background around it. A landscape photo gets space above and below; a portrait gets space at the sides. Pick a background that matches the picture, or choose PNG with transparency when the square will sit on top of another layout.

Before you use the 1000 × 1000 file

Open the download and verify the width and height both read 1000 pixels. Remember that pixel dimensions, file size and print size are different properties: a 1000 × 1000 JPG and a 1000 × 1000 PNG have identical dimensions but different byte counts, and the print size depends on the pixel density of the device or printer.

For the concepts behind pixels, bytes and print size, read the 3000x3000 pixels converter page. To switch to a 500, 1024 or 3000 pixel square, use the image size converter or return to the 3000x3000 image converter homepage.

Common questions

1000x1000 image questions

What does a 1000x1000 pixel size mean?

It means the image measures 1000 pixels wide and 1000 pixels high: a 1:1 square with 1,000,000 pixels, or exactly 1 megapixel. The number says nothing about the file size in MB, which depends on format and compression.

How large can I print a 1000x1000 image?

Divide the pixel count by the print density. At 300 pixels per inch, 1000 pixels span about 3.3 inches, so the print would be roughly 3.3 × 3.3 inches. At 150 PPI the same file spans about 6.7 inches with softer detail. This tool sets pixels, not DPI metadata.

Is 1000x1000 big enough for product photos?

It depends on where the image will be listed. Many shops and galleries display square images around this size, but requirements change and differ per service. Check the current guidelines of the destination, and keep a larger master so you can re-export at another size.

Is 1000x1000 the same as 1024x1024?

No. A 1024x1024 image has 24 more pixels on each side and about 50,000 more pixels in total. Some services accept either; others check the exact numbers. Export the size the destination actually asks for instead of assuming the two are interchangeable.

Can I keep a transparent background at 1000x1000?

Yes. Choose PNG and Fit entire image with a transparent background to keep the whole picture inside the square without a visible border. JPG does not support transparency and fills the background with a solid color.

Will a 1000x1000 export look sharp?

Sharpness depends on the original, not just the dimensions. Reducing a large photo to 1000 × 1000 usually looks clean. Enlarging a picture that is smaller than 1000 pixels on a side adds pixels without new detail, so check the result at full size before using it.
