What is a 1024x1024 image?
A 1024x1024 image is a square with 1,024 pixels on each side: a 1:1 aspect ratio and 1,048,576 pixels in total, about 1 megapixel. It is a common square export size for avatars, app icons and artwork files, which is why many people need exactly this dimension rather than an approximate square.

Crop to fill or fit the entire image
Crop: an edge-to-edge 1024 × 1024 square
Crop trims the outside of a rectangular picture until a 1024-pixel square remains, without stretching anything. A landscape loses part of its sides; a portrait loses part of its top and bottom. Drag the focus so faces, text and logos stay inside the frame, and check the preview before exporting.
Fit entire image: keep everything with a background
Fit entire image scales the whole picture to fit inside the square and fills the rest with a background color. Choose PNG with a transparent background when the square will be placed over another design. Nothing is cut off, but the picture itself occupies less than the full 1024 × 1024 canvas.
Check the result before you upload it
1024x1024 describes pixel dimensions, not file size or sharpness. Enlarging a source that is smaller than 1024 pixels on a side cannot restore missing detail, so inspect small text and edges in the downloaded file. Verify both dimensions in the file properties, since a square preview alone does not prove the numbers.

How do I resize an image to exactly 1024x1024?

Is a 1024x1024 image the same as a 1:1 square?
A 1024x1024 image is one example of a 1:1 square: the width and height are equal. Other squares exist at different sizes, so a square shape alone does not guarantee the dimensions are 1024 by 1024. Check the saved file to confirm both numbers.
Can I enlarge a smaller picture to 1024x1024?
You can, but enlarging adds pixels without adding detail. A small or soft source may look blurry at 1024 × 1024. Start from the highest-resolution original you have and inspect the download at full size before using it.
Does this tool generate images with AI?
No. This converter prepares a picture you supply: it resizes and recomposes it into an exact square. It does not create new artwork, wallpapers or downloadable assets, and it does not work from a text prompt.
Should I save a 1024x1024 image as JPG or PNG?
